Description
A Traction Disc is essentially a Clutch Weight. More commonly, riders have fitted or welded Flywheel weights to their bikes. However many E-Start bikes have little or no room available to fit an effective Flywheel weight on the flywheel side.
Traction Disc works similarly to a Flywheel weight with some differences. Once the clutch is engaged (pulled in), the Traction Disc is disabled, whereas a Flywheel weight cannot be “disabled”. A Flywheel weighted engine will always have the added momentum, even when it’s not needed.
So, how does Traction Disc work? Simply put, as soon as you’ve engaged gear and let out the clutch, Traction Disc is active and doing its job. The trick is to learn to slip the clutch less and let Traction Disc do the job. Obviously, one cannot help but slip the clutch, but with a slightly different riding style adopted, the benefits soon become noticeable.
Features:
- Smoothes Power delivery
- Easier Power Control, resulting in better hookup
- Adds momentum to the rotating mass of the engine therefore less stalling.
- Engine is able to “tractor” better low down.
- Adds better hookup and traction therefore saving rear tyre life too…..Hence the name Traction Disc.
- This is one of those “bang-for-buck” add-ons for your dirt bike.
